Nikola Tesla--(Page 8)
WHY DOES THE MYTH CONTINUE?
We are all victims of omitted or faulty education in electrical science history. Nevertheless, we should not blame our teachers; they were also taught the popular version of history when they were in school. Further, it is likely that their teachers, and teachers before them were never taught correctly either. This pattern has continued, generation after generation, for more than 100 years.
So great was the effect of Tesla's discoveries in electricity and radio in the latter part of the 19th century, that the world exploded with technological progress, which dominates our media today, and as a consequence, the true pioneers in electrical science are forgotten.
We are trying diligently to educate students of Nikola Tesla, the American scientist who gave the world more than he ever received in return. He died at age 86, alone and virtually forgotten in the only home he ever knew in his new country, a New York City hotel room -- in virtual poverty, except for a small stipend from a foreign government to pay for his food and room rent. Yet he was one of the greatest scientists the world has ever known -- or forgotten.
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP
You can contact the schools in your community--principals, teachers, science coordinators... anyone who might have a sympathetic ear. Alert them to this captivating aspect of science history, largely unknown in schools today, and how it can be used as an inspirational tool for learning good writing skills.
